Coming Products.
Apollinaire Habonimana is an East African gospel star of high acclaim. He has a 45 person strong choir, who are one of the most noted in the region. They perform twice weekly to audiences of between two and five thousand people. Apollinaire has toured throughout Europe and the US and is touring Africa on a regular basis.
Along with these established artists we are working with new and emerging talent:
Solace Praise Choir is a 16 piece choir made up of orphans from the genocide. Their music is an uplifting and inspirational mix of traditional Rwandan harmonies, various East African rhythms with a message of hope and reconciliation. Their sound appeals to both the World music and Christian/Gospel markets.
Patrick Nnyamitari is a young up and coming R&B artist, already enjoying a huge following in Kigali and earning the respect of his peers. We feel Patrick has an illustrious international career in front of him.
The Holy Jah Doves a popular and Uniquely Rwandan Reggae Band, with a great following in Rwanda and an international appeal, with strong traditional Rwandan roots mixed with a Jamaican Reggae style.
The Fawe Girls School Choir represent the flip side of the coin when it comes to African Choir signing; where Solace Praise are polished and refined, Fawe are raw and unprocessed and have an energy that comes from their live performance.
Sentore is the last great Master Inanga player. He is the last Royal court entertainer and has held the secrets of the Royal Court traditions and stories of Rwandan culture for many years. Keeping them alive through oppression and Genocide to pass on to future generations. He is the greatest scholar of Rwandan music and is the most well respected traditional artist.
And finally, we have Jean Bosco Ndayambaje. He was born in a refugee camp and has been writing and playing music since he was four. He is a fresh young talent with huge potential, combining his traditional musical skills with newer mediums of performance, will create something unique. -
Website Development Started
Welcome to the new Rafiki Records website. So what's the plan? Well, a big factor in the sites construction will we the utilisation of all the big internet communication services to try and get the word out to as many people as possible. I'll aim to integrate with all the biggys such as facebook, twitter etc, as well as music services such as last.fm.
Aside from the communication aspect, I plan to make it as easy as possible from point of entry to the site, to finding the preferred artist, to purchasing an album in physical of downloadable form. Purchases will be via Google Checkout.
